About Us

Who We Are

Aequitas is a not for profit organisation that strives to be a powerful vehicle of change, by creating a consortium among academics, lawyers, groups, NGOs, media and the community to establish a platform with the infrastructure and resources required to both educate the public, and focus collective action as a way to effect institutional and Constitutional reform.

Our Philosophy

A modern, apolitical natural rights movement for ordinary Australians

Aequitas was founded with the belief that our natural rights should be afforded the greatest protection. We believe natural rights cannot be granted or revoked by those in power - rather, they belong to us, by virtue of who we are - human beings. We are strong proponents of individual rights, campaigning to strengthen and enshrine fundamental rights within the Australian Constitution.

Our philosophy is all-encompassing, without prejudice against or favour for any individual or group. Aequitas is apolitical and advocates for all equally, to achieve equity and justice for all.

Our Mission

We envision an Australian society where the rights and freedoms inherent to all persons are legally protected and enforceable. To achieve this, we endeavour to bring about Constitutional protection of human rights in Australia, to empower individuals and groups to assert their rights and hold government institutions accountable.

We recognise the unfortunate reality that legal rights are endowed with greater protection than natural rights. Thus our mission is to advocate for natural rights to be constitutionally enshrined and entrenched in all legislation at the Federal and State levels.

We acknowledge that our society is only as strong as our weakest members and our human rights protections are only as effective as the most flagrant abuses reveal. Thus we aim to give a voice to those often marginalised minorities, and those who are subject to discrimination and persecution by virtue of who they are.

Our Goals

Aequitas aims to centralise the human rights movement in Australia by bringing groups, information and support services together to form a human rights hub – a place where you can exercise your rights and connect with a community of human rights advocates.

We believe that this broken system can only be rectified by significantly increasing participation of all members of the community in governance. Effective participation can only be achieved by building an informed and inclusive society, where individuals and groups come together to advocate for laws and policies that are premised on human rights protections. Thus, one of our primary goals is to educate and inform.

Our Values

We value everyone’s perspectives and understand that it is only together, embracing the diversity within an increasingly multicultural Australia that we can achieve change.
